Bathukamma Festival

Bathukamma is one of the most vibrant and significant cultural festivals of Telangana, celebrated with great enthusiasm by women. The festival symbolizes the beauty of nature, the importance of flowers, and the spirit of womanhood. The word Bathukamma means “Mother Goddess, come alive,” reflecting prayers for prosperity, happiness, and well-being.

Celebrated during the months of September and October, Bathukamma lasts for nine days and culminates on Saddula Bathukamma, the grand finale. Women arrange colorful seasonal flowers in a unique conical shape, gather in groups, sing traditional folk songs, dance around the floral arrangement, and offer prayers to Goddess Gauri.
