The vehicular agitation caused immediate disruptions in the area, creating vehicle and tractor lines stretching nearly a kilometer on both sides of the road as farmers refused to budge.
The protesting farmers expressed deep frustration over state negligence, stating they had been waiting at local storage hubs and procurement centers for over ten days with no progress. According to the farmers, whenever they approached marketing officials, they were redirected from one packed warehouse to another under the excuse that the facilities were entirely full to capacity. This bureaucratic gridlock has forced local agriculturalists to run from pillar to post just to sell their seasonal produce, leaving their crops exposed to unpredictable weather.
The localized unrest highlights a broader systemic failure across Telangana, clashing directly with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s state-wide directives to administrative collectors to complete all paddy and maize procurement on an urgent “mission mode.” Despite those high-level government promises, structural challenges and storage space deficits continue to trigger flash protests. The Nagarkurnool farmers declared they would not relent until local authorities provided a concrete timeline and immediate operational clearance to absorb their piling maize stocks.
